Within the platform we enable SSL Decryption by default on student and staff filtering policies. This feature allows the filtering of website which are accessed via secure means HTTPS.
Example here would be filtering the content provided from a search engine
- Where SSL Decryption is not used we are reliant on the ‘safe search’ capabilities of the search engine to filter out the results, this is not linked to your filtering preferences.
- Where SSL Decryption is used, we compliment the search engines ‘safe search’ results with filtering preferences defined by you, meaning any thumbnail and cached results can also be screened.
Where there is the need to remove a device from SSL Decryption, we can remove this for the individual device or a range of devices from the web filtering policy. This can be reconfigured from the web admin tool.
