Capita – Service Updates July 2020

Visible developments made over the quarter include

SIMS ID for “Site Administrator” Users.

Support for schools wishing to Self on board Google tenancies

Schools wishing to enable SIMS ID for provisioning Google accounts for Google classroom can use this self-onboarding guide

Google Settings to support self on-boarding

Local Site Administrators are now able to populate the details to allow schools to self-onboard their Google tenancies to allow them to benefit from automated Google provisioning from their SIMS Data. You can find out more about this process on the SIMS ID Support site: Google Self Boarding

Google Grade Sync Pilot-Using Google Grades Write back to SIMS Assessment Manager

Google are hosting a pilot to transfer data from Google Classroom Gradebook to SIMS Assessment Manager.

Any school with SIMS ID who use Google classroom can participate.

Google Classroom Provisioning Support

The SIMS ID Reports section now contains the reports for use within the GAM tool to provision Google Classroom accounts from SIMS ID Data.

Password Recovery Update

We have improved the password recovery process for users who have either forgotten their password or locked their accounts.

There are two ways to recover a password.

  1. By answering a security question that was set at initial login and can be reset in the Your Profile section of SIMS ID
  2. By requesting a onetime password reset email. This can only be sent if a user has a validated email set either an additional login method or has been set as a communication preference specifically for this purpose. This can be set in the Your Profile section of SIMS ID under Alerts and Events, My Alerting Preferences.

The new process for Password Recovery routes the user to the most appropriate method of recovering their password based on the email records set for that user.

Users that do not have a Notification email set, will be automatically routed to the security question-based process.

Users who do have a Notification email set will be taken to the e-mail based process with an option to use the security question-based process if they do not have access to their e-mail.

User Menu Update

We have simplified the user menu that is accessed when you click on your name in the top right of SIMS ID. This makes navigation simpler.

The removed items for changing passwords and password recovery methods can now all be found under My Profile.
